The Principle of a Fixed Heart

Yesterday I told you a principle I taught my children when they were little.

I’ve got another one for you today.

I call this The Principle of a Fixed Heart.

Here it is:

To the degree you are settled in your heart, you will experience peace, stability, joy and success.

But if you are not settled in your heart, you will always be driven by situations and circumstances.

It’s funny how that works.

James put it this way…

James 1:6-7

6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

I want you to notice that the issue is on the receiving end.  Not the giving end.

This verse doesn’t say God will not give.  It says we will not receive.

Huge difference.

The key to receiving is a settled, single heart.

You can’t be settled if you are divided.

Back to my lesson for my children….

We must all make up our minds (settle it in our hearts) that God is our source of truth.

It’s better to know ahead of time, so you don’t cave to the pressure of the moment.

Because, as James says, a double minded man is unstable…in ALL his ways.

Want to be stable?  Get fixed on God’s Word.

That’s it for today…

Until later…
